Child safety standards

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first.
Dating for Lawyers is a dating app for adults 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards explain what is prohibited, how we keep minors off Dating for Lawyers, how to report a concern and what we do when we receive one.
Zero tolerance
The following are banned on Dating for Lawyers, in profiles, photos and messages, and in anything arranged through the app:
- Any image, video or text that sexualizes a minor, including drawn, edited or AI-generated material.
- Sharing, requesting, selling or linking to child sexual abuse material.
- Grooming, sexual contact or sexual talk with a minor, or trying to arrange to meet one.
- Sextortion, trafficking or any other exploitation of a minor.
- Photos of children on their own in a profile.
One violation is enough: we remove the content and permanently ban the account. There are no warnings for CSAE.
Adults only: how we enforce it
- Date of birth at sign-up. Our server checks it, not just the app, and refuses anyone under 18. You must already be 18 in every time zone on Earth, so no one gets in a day early.
- Verified lawyers only. Before anyone can see profiles, like, match or message, they confirm their email, verify a work email with a one-time code and upload a good-standing document from their bar. A person on our team reviews every verification.
- Adult preferences only. The age range you date in can't be set below 18.
- Underage reports. Members can report someone who might be under 18 from any profile card or chat, and we act on it as described below.
What members can share
- Every profile photo is reviewed by a person on our team before any other member can see it.
- Messages are text only. Members can't send photos, videos or files in a chat.
How to report
- In the app: tap Safety on any profile card or chat, choose Report, then pick Child sexual abuse or exploitation or Might be under 18. Reports are confidential, the person isn't told who reported them, and you won't see them again.
- By email, no account needed: write to safety@datingforlawyers.com. Tell us the member's first name, where you saw the problem and when. Please don't attach or forward the images themselves; describe them and we will find them.
- Directly to the authorities: you can also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678, or to your local police.
If an intimate image of you as an adult was shared without your consent, use our takedown request form.
What we do when we receive a report
- A person on our team reviews every report within 24 hours.
- We remove the content and permanently ban the account. A ban signs the person out and ends all of their matches.
- We keep a one-way hash of a banned member's email and bar number, so they can't join again with the same email or verify the same bar number.
- We report apparent child sexual abuse material to NCMEC, as U.S. law requires, and to other relevant authorities where the law requires it.
- We cooperate with law enforcement investigations.
Child safety point of contact
Our safety team is Dating for Lawyers's designated point of contact for child safety, including questions from app stores, NCMEC and law enforcement: safety@datingforlawyers.com. We answer safety email within 24 hours.
Compliance
We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including reporting to NCMEC. These standards work alongside our Community guidelines, Terms and Safety Center.
